SYNOPSIS
The Balkan Peninsula is home to Europe’s last wild rivers. With abundant wildlife, incredible whitewater and healthy, intact ecosystems, these rivers are The Undamaged–clean, pristine, and undammed. But the threat of thousands of hydroelectric dams planned or under construction in the Balkans mean these ancient rivers are at risk of being destroyed forever. The Undamaged is a powerful and inspiring journey of a group of kayakers who travel from Slovenia to Albania, exploring the impacts of hydro dams from a seat of a kayak. Along the way they kayak 23 rivers in 6 countries and organize 17 protests, joining forces with locals fighting for their rivers while experiencing rich Balkan cultures still deeply connected to rivers. The Undamaged is a story of exploration, discovery and resistance and leaves viewers with the inspiration to act, the courage to stand up against injustice, and the motivation to fight for Europe’s last pockets of wilderness.
